Flying time

Ben is back in the air with his instructor Don Turrell at North Central Flight Center. It was a nice November day with a lot of wind but beautiful sunshine.

Trebuchet

A trebuchet that Pappa and I made. Test firing and video taped in slow motion - 240 frames per second and then slowed down more in After Effects. This is for a science/physics project for High School - I am starting in a week or so.

Science Fair Best of Fair

The ribbon behind Ben says Best In Fair
Even though Ben has received a Blue Ribbon every time he has entered the Science Fair, this year he was one of ten who got Best In Fair recognition. Well done Benjamin! His project was Airfoil Design as you can see in the picture below. Ben created three different wing designs and tested them in a homemade wind tunnel.

And then he also won a Broadband Award which gets him entrance into another competition - a national competition this time - where the winner gets a free week visit and tour of silicon valley. Keep up the good work Ben, hopefully you will be heading west sometime soon. . .

Ben Gets First Place
Megan got a great letter today:

Dear Megan,
On behalf of the RI Office of Energy Resources, I would like to first congratulate your son on his 1st Place Award in the Student Poster Contest , and thank you for attending the awards ceremony. I have attached the photo of the 6-8 winners on stage from the awards ceremony. Congratulations and enjoy!
Best,

Rebecca Zahora

and that is Ben's good friend Isabel who took second place-- must be some good programs at Sacred Heart School to get 2 out of the 3 top spots in the state.
